Style Imitation
I have watched the movie “Dunes” multiple times and will watch it once more to understand the thought process of how this movie was made. “Dunes” was not widely cherished by many mostly do to Lynches poor choices as a director. The cast did not fit their roles or portray their characters well, partly due to the way they looked. I disliked how the thoughts of characters were heard by the viewers while the character is making an odd face to display that they are deep in thought. “Dunes” was meant to be more of a serious movie but I couldn’t help but find it somewhat as a comedy. The movie was a major disappointment and a failure due to the fact that it was incomprehensible. In the final cut of the movie it was very choppy given the poor editing choices. There were a lot of clips taken out of the movie in the final cut which made it not smooth at all in the final edits. Unbeknownst to many, “Dune” was the movie that put Lynch on that map in the filmmaking industry. Once the film reaches theaters it definitely recognized in the public eye for being a dreadful movie and awful depiction of the story it told. This film could have had multiple outcomes for Lynch, good or bad, but as we saw it was a negative one. Overall in the end Lynch stuck with it but in some ways it seemed as if he gave up.
I chose to rewrite the second story in the style of the third story. The tone of the way I wrote this text is not as joking and sarcastic, it is more mature and serious. Originally the second text sounded like it could have been from a movie review or blog and the third text sounded like it was more from a newspaper or article, this is what I intimidated.
